Dear members of the Diocese of Saskatoon,
As Bishop of the Diocese of Saskatoon it has been my great privilege to serve alongside you for the past eight years. On Thursday this week I announced to the Diocesan Executive Council that I will retire on the 1st of October 2018. This has not been an easy decision but after much prayerful consideration I know it is the right decision. Your parish and all the parishes in the diocese will always have a special place in my heart and I want to thank you all for the many gifts and tireless service you have brought and continue to bring to your parish and the diocese.
I will pray daily for you all and for the guidance of the Holy Spirit as you prepare for an electoral synod to select your next bishop.
God bless you all,
There will be an Electoral Synod held in the Cathedral Hall on Saturday September 8th 2018 presided over by Archbishop Greg Kerr-Will, the Metropolitan of Rupertsland to elect a new Bishop for the Diocese of Saskatoon. A farewell banquet and thank you for the ministry and leadership of Bishop David and Mrs. Joan Irving will be announced in due course. Please keep them and our diocese in your prayers during this time of transition.
