60th Anniversary Evensong for Canon Clay and Father Bernard
Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood: Solemn Evensong – Sunday, June 3, 7:00 P.M.
All Cathedral Parishioners are warmly invited to attend this wonderful celebration of two good and faithful priests in God’s Church!
Canon Clay and Father Bernard (Saskatoon’s best known ecumenical Roman Catholic Priest) were both ordained to the priesthood on June 1st 1958; Colin in Southwark Cathedral, London, England, and Fr. Bernard in Vonda, Saskatchewan.
Fr. Bernard was founder of The Prairie Centre for Ecumenism in 1984, and served as the Executive Director of the Centre until 1994. Upon retirement, he was pastor of Paroisse Saints-Martyrs-Canadiens in Saskatoon, and Ecumenical Officer for the Roman Catholic Diocese. Fr. Bernard has continued, since his retirement, to work in the area of Ecumenism. Canon Clay is well known to Anglican, ecumenical and multi-faith circles in Saskatoon. He has served in parish ministry and in University chaplaincy in Ontario and at the University of Saskatchewan. He is the author of numerous books, his most recent being his autobiography published in March.
Please join us as we prayerfully celebrate the sixty years of service and ministry of these two faithful servants of God.
At 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 3rd, in St. John’s Cathedral, Fr. Bernard and Rev. Canon Clay will participate in Solemn Evensong to celebrate the diamond jubilee of their priesthoods. All are most welcome and warmly encouraged to gather to give thanks to God for the ministry of these two generous priests.
